Sheep Mountain Lookout near Faro, Yukon Territories, Robert Campbell Region, Canada is a sightseeing destination located in the wilderness forests situated in the back country near the community of Faro. The Campbell Region sightseeing destination provides views of mountains and wildlife.
The Sheep Mountain Lookout adventure consists of a short walking trail and a wooden viewing platform. Stairs from the trail lead up onto the elevated viewing deck. On the viewing platform are benches for seating. Views are far reaching and it is very wise to bring along some binoculars.
From the gravel pullout parking area on the main road the 2 minute easy grade walking path leads hikers to a wooden viewing deck looking out at Sheep Mountain. The viewing platform is mainly used as a wildlife viewing site for the observation and study of Fannin Sheep.
The best time to observe these beautiful creatures is during the months of November and May. During the winter months, visitors with a good set of binoculars may be able to view the rams on a ridge northwest of the lambs and ewes.
The trailhead entrance to the Sheep Mountain Lookout is located at the top of a hill. Look for a gravel pull out parking area located on a long S curve. The trailhead is well hidden by tall vegetation.
