Canada Day, July 2017 was the unvieling of the new playground filled with sand, water, a fort and an upside-down canoe. The new playground is designed to get kids to challenge themselves outside. It’s part of a trend for children to assess risk for themselves. Confederation Park is an on-leash pet friendly park that is a wonderful place for unwinding after a long day. Add this park to your dog walking schedule, enjoy the scenery and make some new friends! Confederation Park follows the course of the North Hill Coulee where there is a rich riparian habitat which supports a large assortment of plants such as Douglas fir, Dogwood and Willows. It is also an important migratory spot for several species of waterfowl such as ducks, geese and gulls. In the dammed marshy areas you will find common cattails, bulrushes and other aquatic vegetation. The aquatic vegetation is vital in supporting a healthy population of muskrats and invertebrate species such as butterflies and dragonflies that you would find around a wetland. This year round park is a great place for geocashe hunting, a game of golf and is very popular for cross country skiing in the winter. In December & January the park is host to the Lions Club Christmas Light Display. Bundle up and take a stroll with the family to check out all the amazing light displays 5pm-11pm daily.
