Kananaskis Country

Kananaskis Country is a system of large protected parklands, ecological reserves and recreational areas in the Canadian Central Rockies Eco System. It is a land of mountain ranges, snow capped peaks, forests of trees, wildlife, alpine lakes, rumbling and tumbling rivers, streams and creeks.

The community of Canmore, Alberta, Canada is the largest village in Kananaskis Country providing the most services. Kananaskis Country, itself, is located just south of the Banff National Park.

In Kananaskis Country there are self guided and guided tours enjoying the backcountry year round.

In the summer months hiking, backpacking, horseback riding, camping, mountain biking, cycling, fishing, kayaking, river rafting, rock climbing, swimming and canoeing are a few of the activities enjoyed.

In the winter months, the landscape covered in snow, activities like skiing, snowboarding, cross country skiing, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, dog sledding and ice fishing are enjoyed.
