Popson Park is a flood plain park located south of the City of Lethbridge, Alberta in the southern region of Alberta, Canada. Popson Park is best described as an off leash dog park and picnic area.
Popson Park measures 133 hectares (329 acres) and is located on the shores of the Oldman River. The park provides easy access to a long rocky beach situated in a valley of coulees and surrounded by grassland prairie.
From the main parking lot of this Lethbridge, Alberta park is a single track dog walking trail following the banks of the Oldman River. The dirt trail explores open grass fields covered in groves of cottonwood trees.
Off the main access road are two side roads. One side road leads to a day use picnic area with a picnic shelter, picnic tables and a boat launch. The other side road leads to the Oldman River Observatory.
The region is home to rattlesnakes and cactus so it is best to keep dogs on trails and within off leash areas.
