Legacy Regional Park, located at 400 Blackwolf Blvd N in Lethbridge Alberta Canada, is a massive regional park for you to enjoy. After years of planning, the park is finally open and ready to be enjoyed by everyone. The final projects wrapped up completion in the spring of 2022.
Spanning 73 acres, it is a fantastic use of space. Green spaces seem to go on forever, the walking paths crisscross over 6kms throughout the park. There are ponds and ornamental gardens to help make this a wonderfully relaxing place to go for a walk. Or... find your place at one of the many picnic areas scattered throughout the park. Some of the picnic areas are bookable and have large covered shelters with BBQs on-site for your family's enjoyment.
If you're looking for somewhere to play sports, this is a great option! With an area for almost everything, you'll find basketball courts, baseball diamonds, soccer fields, pickleball courts, and tennis courts.
In the summer months, bring the kids down to enjoy the largest spray park in the city at 550 square meters! Featuring 3 areas including a tiny tots area where the water flow is low and great for the youngest of kids that are just getting comfortable with water. There is also a family area and an area aimed at ages 5-12 to splash and play. With plenty of seating around the splash park, washrooms, and a large parking lot close by, it is an easy place to get out and enjoy summer! Just check for any updated hours of operation before you head out. Splash parks in Lethbridge are open until the end of the September long weekend, or as summer weather permits.
Lethbridge Regional Park is home to Canada's 1st ever Challange Course! Featuring 11 obstacles on a 5,000-square foot course, get your heart racing and test your skills. Including a professional-grade timing system with a scoreboard so you can see how fast you completed the course.
David Ellis, Parks Manager for the City of Lethbridge said, “I think the course is important because it fits with the other park features. I find that our parks don’t have much to offer youth. The challenge course is one way we can engage the young demographic and keep them active in our parks.” Come out and have some fun friendly competition and stay healthy testing your skills on the Challenge Course.
Know someone who enjoys testing their skills with inline skates, BMX bikes, scooters, or skateboards? Send them to Legacy Regional Park in Lethbridge! Featuring a contoured concrete plaza-style park featuring a bowl and concrete obstacles with timed lights that may be turned on by the users after sunset. I overheard some talk about how awesome this skatepark is compared to others. Come check it out and let us know what you think!
Legacy Regional Park features 2 playgrounds great for all ages. The first playground is a more traditional style with a saucer swing, slides, a climbing area, and even a touch-screen music centre. Great for the younger kids in the family. If that isn't what you're looking for, head over to the discovery playground to test your climbing skills and see if you're afraid of heights! This playground is huge, with tons of climbing equipment, trampolines, slides, and equipment you likely haven't seen elsewhere.
Some other features of the park include - The Belevedere Lookout and Amphitheater, as well as a concession open on weekends. Come out in the winter and take part in some ice-skating on the ice rink or have a blast on the toboggan hill!
