Top of the World Highway in Dawson City
Every visitor to the north of the Yukon near Dawson City will want to tell their grandchildren that they explored the Top Of The World Highway. I mean just the name of the highway has allot of weight. And it takes some time and effort in just getting here so to explore the highway.
From Dawson City we drove onto the ferry that would take us across the river to the beginning of the highway. Although it is listed as a highway it is not a paved highway but a gravel one.
The highway has long corners and travels along ridges high above valleys and forests of trees. The one disappointment on the adventure is that much of the water views were hidden behind the mountains and so we were left with kilometres of valleys and trees. In itself it was not so bad we just expected a ton of water views.
Along the highway were some pullouts with interpretive signs and trails. During the trip we were playing cat and mouse with a cycling group. Every time we pulled over for pictures the bikes caught up to us.
Here is a picture of Bro in pure jubilation on the Top Of the World Hwy.
