Snowboarding on Big White

The snow is falling.  The snow is falling.

My Brother and I, both , enjoy the winter months and the adventures that comes with the snow.  We find many people we talk with who do not hold the same attitudes as we do  towards winter and low temperatures.  It must be the outdoor pond hockey player in me.

So… as you can imagine, when the snow started falling we could not help but yank out the snowboards and begin to work them over with some wax preparing them for the new season.  This week we made the time to visit  Big White in Kelowna.

The conditions were not great but it was still early in the year. On this trip to Big White the snow was hard and frozen from the low temperatures.  Hard snow usually results in a few bumps and bruises.

Boarding on hard snow means allot of ridges and ridges catch edges which create hard falls.  Plus, when you combine poor edges with pushing the boards hard and our, sometimes,  lack of style tends to increase the number of  spills.

The boarding favorites on Big White are  the glades, the tree runs and the bowls off the Gem Chair.  The Gem Chair is far from the crowds at the main lodge.  There were no line ups on the Gem either.

Anywho .. for the first runs of the year it was a good time, no serious damage to our boards or ourselves. It was a good day.
