Columbia River Trail in Trail BC
On the road again. The adrenaline is pumping. I can feel it in my veins and I can definitely see it on my brothers face. The excitement is real. We are set for road show 2009.
Every summer we continue our journey crossing the country researching adventures, history and tourism for our travel websites. We tune up the jeeps, we load up the travel pods (trailers) and hit the highways and back country roads of Canada. Seeing the country first hand and what nature has to offer.
Yesterday we left our winter base in Peachland. The plan was to travel to Osoyoos and then up into the mountains near Christina Lake to Nancy Green Park and then back down into Trail, BC.
Started slow as we did not get out of Peachland for some time as we ran into highway construction. In Oliver we stopped for propane and some minor camper repairs. Propane because we needed heat in case we stopped in the mountains for the night as we were behind schedule.
Once we started into the mountains after Osoyoos the wilderness scenery took over. It felt good to be in the wild again after being couped up in the winter. Before we knew it we were in Trail, BC. How time flys when you drive with a big grin on your face all the way. No worries after the late start.
Today was a research day because the rain stopped and the sun came out (raining again now) so took advantage of the opportunity since the week ahead sounds wet. Best trail of the day in Trail, BC was the Columbia River Trail. Even the gravel road to the trailhead was cool and muddy.
At the trailhead grabbed my photo equipment and walkman and began researching. Not a soul around for miles. Had a great time. Got some good pictures until the rains came and the storm clouds started chasing me off the trail. Here is a link to my article on the Columbia River
When I got back to the trailer I noticed I picked up some ticks in my hair even though I wore a hat. Ah man.. off to the shower we go and scrub those suckers out. After I am feeling “Irish Spring-ish” , now settling into some computer time catching up on my days events and emails.
Be in Trail for a few days then we are off through the Rockies on our way to Slave Lake Alberta. Bring it on!
Eh, check back with me soon will ya!
Be well, Be active.
