The highway drive from Kaslo following the Kaslo River did not let us down. The mountain ranges were covered in a blanket of snow, alpine lakes still half frozen. It was a postcard moment!
We arrived in Nakusp early so we decided to take another drive out to the hot springs. Unlike the other hotsprings in the Kootenays, the Nakusp Hotsprings is a high alpine spring. More personal and set in wilderness.
Not thinking about the time of season, we arrived at the springs and there was still snow on the ground. Brrrr. Great if your staying in one of the cottages and having a romantic weekend with someone special. But when you are traveling with a trailer and a brother, it can be a bit cold.
Not to distract from the springs. They are always warm and welcoming . We were just not ready for snow and we had our campers. But at anytime, if you are looking for a romantic destination Nakusp Hot Springs is a great little spot to escape to. It is personal, small and not as crowded as the bigger hot springs.
Me… I am with my brother, so back down we went and settled in at Box Lake. No snow, just a loon singing into the night.
