Winter is so amazing in so many ways. Not only does the landscape and scenery change its dress during the season but some people change their attitudes. You can learn so much about the winter season from its people. Much of it is good and some is bad.
People sometimes forget that winter in Canada is also a peak tourism season attracting visitors from around the world therefore generating millions of dollars in revenues for many communities. What does the visitor know that the local doesn’t? Some say locals lack the information and appreciation. Why is that? I always thought it was up to the individual to make the best of every season.
Canada is a top destination for activity and adventure because we have four seasons. Remember… it is because we enjoy four seasons of scenery, adventure and festivals that makes Canada such a great travel destination. Every season gives us a different set of landscapes, waterscapes, music, adventures and clothing lines. What is there not to like?
In my unofficial “boo-hoo winter” survey it seems that the complainers, the old man winters of the world, stay at home too much and need to get out more. And… I mean allot more. Because these nay-sayers seldom leave the comforts of their homes they do not see past their windows at all the new activity and scenery that is changing around them. I guess the years and years of winter hibernation woes has jaded them about the season.
I was lucky as a child. My parents involved me in all kinds of sports in all seasons and shared with me their positive attitude. Two tools in my toolbox which help create who I am. The winter season has given me so many good memories of past adventures, loves and scenery. How could I even consider “dissing it”.
So I thought lets make a list of all the reasons I enjoy the winter season. So I picked my brain, collected all my winter memories from diapers to manhood and made a list of all the reasons why winter is a special time of year for me. So bundle up, grab a “joe”, tea or juice and sit back and enjoy. Remember… remove the “blinders”, keep an open mind and you may just see why so many of us are like “kids in a candy store” when comes to the winter season.
