Homonym Communities in Canada
For those who travel to Canada and aim to do some traveling from region to region across the country it is always a good idea to get the name of the community, the pronunciation and its spelling correct for when interacting with the locals.
No one likes it when someone spells their name wrong. A community is the same thing when it comes to the local population. Nothing makes a local chuckle more than a traveler saying or spelling their community wrong or confusing it with another community located in another part of the country. It is a “Pride in Community” thing.
There are many communities in Canada which sound the same but are spelt differently and, these same communities, are often different in many ways including geographically, culture and history.

Homophones are words which are a type of homonym that sound alike but have different spellings.
We will not kid you… at times when our minds wander we accidentally spell a community incorrectly. It is no slight on the community but after visiting and researching thousands of villages, towns and cities across this beautiful country of ours the lines can, sometimes, get blured.
