When a group of female artists come together to create in a Global Geopark, artistic talents kick into high gear, and the hands and creative minds create unique pieces of artwork.
Silk Painting in Tumbler Ridge Global Geopark has a long tradition. After the challenging time of the pandemic, creative activity in a relaxing atmosphere relaxes the mind and enlivens the spirit. Silk Painting retreats in Tumbler Ridge do not require any previous skill or special talent. Children, seniors, hard-working professionals and stay-at-home moms enjoy the creative time.
One day, five women, some paints and silk, and voila - something new is created.
Although you can bring your talent to the silk painting table, the artist workshops and retreats taught in Tumbler Ridge by Art For Happiness focus in the first place on the creative art experience of the individual and did not require any previous experience to enjoy. All silk painting materials and supplies are provided, as these events are all-inclusive. The only thing you bring is curiosity.
There is no end when it comes to creativity! Some of the students used the work right away as a headscarf. Others envisioned using it as a hand-painted silk pillow cover or wall art.
And there also is no question that the relaxing environment in Tumbler Ridge Global Geopark, paired with the interactive experience of fabric painting and the freeflow process, made everyone relax and finished with a smiling face asking when can we do it again?
No previous experience is required.
To enjoy the relaxing creative classes, experience painting at a silk beginner's workshop, and learn why fabric art is a unique opportunity in the northern part of British Columbia. Once experienced, the students are hooked and want to learn more.
This beginner's silk painting class was one day retreat using Habotai silk, silk painting markers and outlining paint, sometimes also called gutta.
Below you see the two stages this student creates her beautiful work.
Here are all the pieces created in the one-day fabric art workshop for relaxation and creative exploration in painting on silk.
People all around the world explore and hone the art of silk painting in a creative process so different from painting on canvas or paper. In the first place, this workshop focused on mindfulness and relaxation, providing a creative learning experience coupled with a relaxing environment in a perfect combination, including all materials and tools. Mission was accomplished.
Visiting Tumbler Ridge Global Geopark doesn't need to be limited to outdoors only but can expand the experience with creative exploration like this silk painting workshop did. It is a lovely weekend event and not far from Dawson Creek, BC - Mile Zero Alaska Highway. Creativity is the ultimate quality we all have - everyone is creative! Painting on silk will bring you joy and discovery of your creativity that may surprise and will delight you. Interested?
