Lockhart Beach Provincial Park is a small recreation park located south of the resort village of Crawford Bay and north of the community of Creston, in the Kootenay region of British Columbia, Canada.

Kootenay Photo Gallery - Nelson The 3 hectare park is situated on the shores of Kootenay Lake and includes a fine sandy beach, a small campground and plenty of water activities. The Lockhart Beach Provincial Park is popular for swimming, fishing, canoeing, camping, birdwatching, suntanning and picnicking.

The sandy beach recreation park is situated where Lockhart Creek empties into Kootenay Lake. The park protects the shoreline of the lake, the river, the plant habitat and the surrounding rainforest.

The campground and day use area in the Lockhart Park are both located near a wide, open sandy beach. The campsites in the park include a picnic table and a fire pit. There are pit toilets and fresh water nearby. The Day Use Area also has some picnic tables and there are pit toilets nearby.

Make note that the parking lot in the Day Use Area is very small. And that the campground only has 18 campsites. Reservations is a good idea in this park during the peak summer seasons.

Connected to the beach park is a, much larger wilderness park, the 3,734 hectare Lockhart Creek Provincial Park. In this bigger park there is the Lockhart Creek ( Baker Lake ) Trail which is a one-way 15 kilometre hike through dense wilderness. The trail climbs up into the Purcell Mountains to an elevation of 2.134 metres ( 7000 ft ) leading to Baker Lake and views of mountain ranges and the Kootenay Valley.

Hikers should be well prepared and experienced as portions of the trail are rough and unmaintained. Be aware of bears in the area. Pack out what you pack in. Leave no footprint.
