Cottonwood Falls Park is a small community park with flower gardens and a waterfall. The park rests at the foot of Cottonwood Falls and on the banks of Cottonwood Creek in the community of Nelson, BC which is in the Kootenay region of British Columbia, Canada.
The park is a garden park because within the park is the Japanese Friendship Garden. The garden includes Japanese statues, trees, shrubs and flowers. Cottonwood Falls Park was created to develop a cultural understanding and mutual respect between the community of Nelson and the Japanese city of Shuzenji.
Cottonwood Creek flows under Highway #3a and Hwy #6 before crashing down into a small waterfall in Cottonwood Falls Park. A short gravel path in the park leads to the waterfall and some sitting benches. One bench situated close to the falls is, depending on the wind direction, sits in the mist created from the falls.
People come to the park to escape the city scene, admire the waterfall, maybe read a book, walk the gardens or have a quick lunch and meet friends. Cottonwood Falls Park is also a location for farmers markets and special events.
