Red Mountain Ski and Mountain Biking Resort is located northwest of the community of Rossland, BC in the Kootenay region of British Columbia, Canada. The resort covers two mountains. Red Mountain stands tall at 1590 metres (5208 feet) and Granite Mountain stands at 2075 metres (6807 feet).
The dual mountains are a popular during the winter for downhill skiing, snowboarding, cross country skiing, cat skiing, heli skiing, snowmobiling and dog sledding. During the summer months the mountain becomes a mountain biking and hiking destination.
During the winter the Red Mountain Resort boosts over 2,919 vertical feet of skiable terrain. The ski resort is well known for its quality tree runs and glades spread out over 1685 acres. The 83+ downhill runs located on Red and Granite Mountains are serviced by various lifts. The mountain lifts include one quad lift (Silverlode), two triple chairs (Motherlode and Paradise) and a double chair (Red).
Some of the better runs on Red Mountain serviced by the red chair include the Hole in the Wall, Red Towers and Poochies Trees. On Granite Mountain some of the runs serviced by the Motherlode Chair include the Shoulder, Beer Belly, Granite Towers and Roots Meadows. The Silverlode Chair services mainly beginner runs.
The Red Mountain snowboard park includes plenty of rails, fun boxes, high slope banks and table top jumps. The park accommodates, both, beginner to experience snowboarders. Snowboard lessons are available on the mountain in the village.
Cross Country skiing is located next to Red Mountain. The xc ski area is referred to as the Blackjack Cross Country Area covering 2,500 acres of backcountry terrain. Here there are over 30 kilometres of machine groomed trails. Along the trails are some warming huts, toilets and a first aid station.
Red Mountain also enjoys some of the amenities important to skiers, snowboarders, mountain bikers and hikers like accommodations, restaurant, child care, equipment rentals and pub.
