The forest park consists of western hemlock, cedar and douglas fir trees. Some areas of the park are heavily treed while other areas are open and exposed to sunlight covered in grass lawns or flowering meadows.
The central natural feature located in the park is the creek. The creek named Ramsay Creek flows through the park and empties into Burnaby Lake.
In the north section of the park one can view the peaks of Cathedral Mountain and Mount Seymour.
The Robert Burnaby Park enjoys a network of gravel and earthy walking trails ranging from easy to difficult. Some trails are short and level while others climb up and down the walls of the ravine.
The main trail is a loop route which explores the ravine and creek. The trail measures about 1.6 kilometres long. Most visit the park to walk the trails and enjoy the natural surroundings.
Some of the services and amenities located in the Robert Burnaby Park include an off leash dog area, day use picnic area, playground, outdoor swimming pool, sports field, washrooms, tennis courts and a disc golf course.
