Rod Reid Nature Trail

The 2.1 kilometre trail is an easy grade hiking route following a hard packed earthy path around the pond. The path follows the shores of the local pond called Loch Lomond - also known as the Beaver Pond because of the beaver den located at the entrance of the pond.

The pond is an easy access route used heavily by the locals. There are dog walkers, joggers and people, every day, out for a stroll on the Rod Reid Nature Trail. Most adventurers begin their walks from the gravel parking lot located at the top of 9th Avenue.

The pond named Loch Lomond is a favorite place for many birds in the area. Birdwatchers will enjoy this park because of the many viewing benches located on the trail. To elevate your interest there are also 2 raised viewing platforms for birdwatchers. The wooden structures provide the best views of the bird wildlife that visit the pond.

The nature trail is also a good place to learn about the local wildlife and natural environment in the region because along the trail are interpretive signs. Yes, signs that explain in detail the who, what, where and when of the local wildlife and habitat.
