Arisaig Provincial Park is best known as a fossil destination for geology buffs. Some fossils are easily visible in the rock, while others can be discovered during a search. However, the park has much more to offer like a beautiful sandy beach, a 1.6 kilometer hiking trail, and some great views overlooking the Northumberland Shore.
Arisaig Provincial Park adventures, and activities most enjoyed include hiking, sightseeing, picnicking, swimming, beachcombing, camping, fossil digging (but you cannot take them) and snowshoeing and xc skiing.
Because there are few places in Nova Scotia, let along Canada, where fossils are easily visible in the rocks as they lay. It is here, in this park, that one can view rocks dating back 448 million years ago. Then there is the beach!
