Fort Point Lighthouse and museum is located at the mouth of the La Have River just south of Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, Canada near the Village of Liverpool, NS. The 1855 Fort Point Lighthouse sits on the same site where the explorer Champlain first made landfall in 1604. Along with the help of deMonts, they built a fort that defended the town and the trading routes during the 18th Century. From the lighthouse, looking out across Liverpool Harbour, one can see the Coffin Island Lighthouse.
Fort Point Lighthouse adventures, and activities most enjoyed include picnicking, sightseeing, wildlife watching, historic touring and birding (birdwatching).
Because it is one of the most beautiful lighthouses in Nova Scotia and it is loaded with extras like a museum, historic artifacts, an interesting back story and a coffee shop with snacks for those of us that are hungry all the time.
The more important, some would say only, features, amenities, services located in and around Fort Point Lighthouse includes picnic area, museum, artifacts, guided tours, costumed actors, gift shop, snack shop, washrooms, sightseeing benches, information signs and parking.
