The 1855 Fort Point Lighthouse sits on the same site where the explorer Champlain first made landfall in 1604. Along with the help of deMonts, they built a fort that defended the town and the trading routes during the 18th Century. From the lighthouse, looking out across Liverpool Harbour, one can see the Coffin Island Lighthouse.
