The Dundas Valley is one of Southern Ontario’s most spectacular natural treasures. Highlights of the 1200 hectare conservation area include lush
forests, colourful meadows, cold water streams, stunning geological formations and an array of rare plants, birds and wildlife. The area is part of a large glacial valley that spreads out into Lake Ontario.
A 40-kilometre trail system developed and maintained by HCA and the world-famous Bruce Trail provides access to almost every part of the Dundas Valley.
The Dundas Valley offers more than 30 exciting outdoor environmental education adventures for students in Grade 1-12.
The Stacey Meadow Pavilion can accommodate up to 80 people for picnics or gatherings. Its pond side location and fishing bridge which extends out into the water makes it a lovely spot. The Dundas Valley also offers open meadow areas with picnic tables and the Trail Centre’s attached pavilion is available for group rentals. The Centre has a food concession, interpretive displays, brochures and maps detailing the Dundas Valley. It is also the starting point for numerous guided hikes and nature-oriented workshops.
• Bicycles are not permitted on the Bruce Trail.
The Niagara Escarpment is full of wonders, but also contains an element of
danger. To enjoy this area safely, please stay on marked trails and keep pets leashed at all times.
Whether you're an avid hiker feeling trapped by the city and wanting to stretch your legs or a day hiker looking for a relaxing walk, you'll find the path you need in the Dundas Valley. Trails vary from challenging ridge walks (head out onto the Wilderness Trail branch off the Main Loop) or stay on the straightforward, rolling terrain of the 3.2 kilometer Main Loop for a light hike.
