Well known as a “hot spot” for fishing, Binbrook Conservation Area also plays host to annual fishing derbies. Other facilities that can be found at Binbrook include a swimming beach, children’s spray pad, picnic facilities, nature trails, observation platforms and a play area. It resembles cottage country, and the impressive part is, it’s close to home!
Bring or rent a rowboat, paddle boat or canoe and experience scenic Binbrook from the water. Canoe along the tranquil shores of one of the few inland lakes located withing the Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority’s watershed.
Fish in Lake Niapenco for northern pike, walleye, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, white and black crappie, yellow perch, pumpkinseed, rock bass, brown bullhead, and carp. This area features a boat launch and a wheelchair user accessible fishing pier. Many fishing derbies are held each year including an Annual Ice Fishing Derby and Annual Spring Fishing Derby.
A catch and release policy is presently in effect for walleye (pickerel), northern pike, and bass. This system will help develop a sustainable fish population in the reservoir.
