Mount McKay Lookout is a sightseeing destination located high above the community of Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada. Thunder Bay is part of the North of Superior region of Northern Ontario, Canada.

The summit lookout is, by far, one of the most popular sightseeing destinations in the region. The lookout is estimated to be 305 metres (1000 ft.) above sea level and enjoys unobstructed views of the City of Thunder Bay, Ontario.

There is a short hiking trail from the parking area which leads to the summit and the skyline boardwalk pathway.

The boardwalk lookout provides a 180 degree view of Thunder Bay including views of Lake Superior, The Sleeping Giant, Kaministiquia River, Fort william First Nation and the Thunder Bay International Airport.

The Mount McKay Lookout has a long history with the local First Nation people. To celebrate and honor the location there are First Nation sculptures and carvings decorating the summit.

The most captivating exhibit are the two large Ojibway First Nation Elder statues which dominate the skyline. Complimenting the statues are an eagle carving and a large cross.

At the Mount McKay Lookout there is a day use picnic area, sightseeing benches , a viewing telescope and a, nearby, campground.

The road up the mountain is paved and steep. There are sections along the road which can get rough and covered with large pot holes.

Drive : From the community of Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada travel to City Road located south of the city. Once on City Road travel to Mission Road and take a left and follow the road to the parking lot.
