McLean's Mountain Lookout is a picnic and sightseeing destination located high above the community of Little Current on the north side of Manitoulin Island, Ontario, Canada. The island is part of Rainbow Country of Northeastern Ontario.
A small picnic area is perched near the top of the mountain. The picnic lookout peers out over the North Channel and the Wabuno Channel on Lake Huron, as well as, the LaCloche Mountain Range. Below one can spot farm fields, buildings, community roads and waterways.
McLean's Mountain Lookout includes a few picnic tables with BBQs. In the corner of the picnic site are some pit toilets.
One can access the lookout via a hiking trail or gravel road. However, the road is steep and rough at times with some sections of loose gravel.
The single track hiking trail is rough and, can be overgrown with grass. There are tree markers on the trail to direct you in the right direction up the mountain.
To locate the entrance to the 3 kilometre hiking trail leading up the mountain one must be alert as it is difficult to spot if not looking for it. From the turn off on Hwy #540 drive up the road approximately 300-350 metres. On your left look out for a foot bridge and an archway-like trail sign marking the trailhead entrance.
