Heritage Park is a heritage and beach destination located on the waterfront in the Village of Manitowaning. The village is located on the western side of Manitoulin Island, Ontario, Canada. The island of Manitoulin, itself, is part of Rainbow Country located in Northeastern Ontario.
The park is popular for activities such as swimming, picnicking, boating and sightseeing. The beach is small, yet well maintained with a floating dock for people who enjoy a good swim.
The sandy beach is small, unsupervised and surrounded by grass lawn areas. The main amenities in the park include some picnic tables and a picnic shelter. Not far away are docking facilities for boats and a boat launch.
The main attraction in Heritage Park is the steam passenger cruise ship named the S. S. Norisle. The heritage ship was the first of its kind to be built in Canada after WW II.
The S. S. Norisle is old school - a coal burning steamship - which once provided passenger transportation across Lake Huron from Tobermory on the Bruce Peninsula to South Baymouth on Manitoulin Island between 1947 to 1974.
