New Brunswick is a Maritime province located on the southeast coast of Eastern Canada. It is the largest of the Atlantic provinces measuring 72,908 square kilometres. New Brunswick is the only province in Canada recognized officially to be bilingual with French being the primary language in the northern Acadian region.
The provincial capital is the City of Fredericton. The New Brunswick capital is best known for its Historic Garrison District. What was once an 18th-century British army base is now home to a Changing of the Guard ceremony, artists’ studios and an outdoor theatre.
The Atlantic Province enjoys a rich history in chocolate (the Ganong family is the oldest family owned chocolate manufacturer in Canada); it is a producer of 1/3 of the world's french fries; it is the fiddlehead capital of the world (Tide Head) and it is home to the the World Pond Hockey Championships and Moosehead Brewery (Canada's oldest independent brewery).
New Brunswick, Canada is home to many interesting highlights including The Bay of Fundy (highest tides in the world), Hopewell Rocks (teapot rock formations); The Old Sow (2nd largest whirlpool in the world); the Reversing Rapids (Saint John); 65+ wooden covered bridges (the 1901 covered bridge in Hartland, New Brunswick is the longest covered bridge in the world measuring 398 metres); and Magnetic Hill (defies gravity attraction).
A few of the more popular, some would say best, activity park destinations and sightseeing trails located throughout New Brunswick includes the Mactaquac Provincial Park (Fredericton), Irving Nature Park and the Rockwood Park (Saint John), Middle Island Irish Park (Miramichi), Point Daly Reserve (Bathurst), Parlee Beach Provincial Park (Shediac), Sackville Waterfowl Park (Sackville), Grand Falls Gorge (Grand Falls),and the Swallowtail Lighthouse (Grand Manan Island).
There are sightseeing heritage attractions, historical sites, and cultural venues in and around New Brunswick. Some of the top sites to visit includes the P'tit Sault Blockhouse (Edmundston), Carleton Martello Tower National Historic Site (Saint John), World's Largest Lobster (Shediac), and the Fort Beausejour National Historic Site (Sackville).
