The summer seasons attract the mountain bike, off road (ATV and motorbikes) and hiking enthusiasts to the Dakota Ridge area. Winter is its main use for xc ski and snowshoeing.
Mowat Bay is a perfect beach for families and friends. The area enjoys a sandy beach, cement theatre like benches, boat launch and great scenery. This is said to be one of the best beach destinations in the Powell River area.
The Homesite Creek Trail cuts through forests for 2 km ( 1.2 mi.) and leads to the Homesite Waterfall, some sinkholes and a group of limestone caves. The caves are self exploratory, so beware, as the floor of the caves can be slippery.
Suncoaster Bike Trail is a thrilling mountain bike ride covering 33 km (20 mi.) stretching from Homesite Creek, near Halfmoon Bay, and continues through the hills of the Caren Range down to Klein Lake near the village of Earls Cove.
The 8 square kilometres (3 square miles) Keats Island is a hiking, biking, kayaking and boating rural island with many hidden bays for moorage and hiking trails to explore.
During the summer seasons the trails are used by naturalists and backpackers primarily and when the winter arrives the trails transform into single track cross country ski and snowshoeing trails.
The Tokenatch Trail is a 3.7km section of the Sunshine Coast Hiking Trail located on the Sunshine Coast of BC Canada in-between the communities of Powell River and Lund.
Gambier Island is located out in Howe Sound past Woolridge Island (smaller island between Sunshine Coast and Gambier Island). Gambier Island is a hiking, biking, camping, kayaking and boating rural retreat with many bays for moorage, camping and hiking trails.
The day use park area includes a secure marine boat area and a floating pier which is a popular draw for people wanting to do some boating, sightseeing, fishing or swimming.
