Zeballos is a remote wilderness village situated on the Esperanza Inlet on the northeast coast of Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada. The village, previously was a gold mining town. Today it is reliant on the forestry, fishing and marine industries.
The community is isolated and is filled with small town charm accessed by gravel road or boat. The small town, because of its isolation, has a deep sea dock off for receiving cargo ships delivering supplies to the village.
The landscape and ocean environment, in and around, Zeballos creates an ideal playground for outdoor activities. Although lacking tour companies, the self guided outdoor enthusiast has plenty of room to explore. Esperanza Inlet, Nuchatlitz Inlet and the Bunsby Islands are some of the ocean destinations visited by outdoor enthusiasts who enjoy boating, kayaking and scuba diving.
Activities continue in the remote regions outside of Zeballos. Some decide to travel the gravel roads so to enjoy some self guided caving exploring the Little Husan Caves or the surroundings of Fair Harbour and Resolution Park for some camping and hiking.
Because of the rustic and rugged environment surrounding Zeballos there are plenty of opportunities to view wildlife. It is not uncommon to view wildlife while driving the rough gravel roads leading into the village. Some of the more popular sightings include Bald Eagles and Black Bears.
The services available in Zeballos important to travelers include accommodations, campgrounds, a general store, gas station, restaurant, marine supplies, medical clinic, library, ATM, pub and liquor store. Many of the services are located centrally in the village and are within walking distance of each other.

How to Get Here: Zeballos is located 40 kilometres off of Highway 19. Watch for direction signs. Approaching Zeballos from the south of Vancouver Island from Victoria, travel north on the Hwy 19 ( North Island Hwy) for 150 km (112 mi) to the turn off located just south of Port McNeill.
