There are two trailheads exploring the Squamish, BC, Canada coastline located near the corner of Vancouver St and Cleveland Ave on the south end of the village. They are identified by the trail marker with a white directional sign pointing the way to Nexen Beach and to the Squamish Estuary.

The trail pointing in the direction of the estuary is the beginning of the Waterfront Trail. The easy grade 1 km walking path travels along a raised dyke following the shores of the Cattermole Slough. The comfortable stroll takes all explorers past a small assortment of beautiful sailboats and weather-weary fishing boats tied up to docks.

Hikers, bikers and dog walkers are regular visitors to the trail. Many explorers decide to hike further once completing the Waterfront Trail by continuing on to the Squamish Estuary Trail system. An ideal trail network with sitting benches and towers set up for viewing marshlands, wetlands and the many birds that visit the region.

Further exploring leads to views of kitesurfers and windsurfers catching some air out at The Spit. And in the distance the Stawamus Chief and Shannon Falls dominate the horizon.
