is one of the most popular natural sightseeing attractions located on Manitoulin Island, Ontario, Canada.
The waterfall park is described as a hiking, picnicking and swimming destination in the community of Kagawong. The highlight of the park being the sunken waterfall and the forested hiking trails.
Kagawong, Ontario is located on the north-central part of Manitoulin Island. The island, itself, is part of Rainbow Country in Northeastern Ontario.
There is an upper level and lower level to the falls. The upper level provides a large parking lot, access to a day use picnic area and access to the trailhead entrance of the Blue Trail (1.1 km). Near the trailhead is a posted trail map.
Other trails include the Red Trail (.45 km); Yellow Trail (.93 km); and the White Trail (.27 km). The Blue and Yellow Trails follow the banks of the river connecting to the shores of Mudge Bay near the Old Mill. At various points along the river the two trails are connected by a foot bridge.
Most of the trails are exploring a river eco system away from the waterfall. The trails are well signed and suitable for most fitness levels. There are resting and sitting benches available along some sections of the trails.
Be aware that there are some very steep sections (some with stairs) on some of the trails - the Red Trail being the steepest of them all.
The parking and main picnic area are very close to the actual waterfall. There is a lookout, just off, the parking area and there are steps leading down to the base of the waterfall.
For the adventurous you can swim beneath the falls, as well as, walk behind them. During the fall months the river is home to fish returning to spawn.
