The "Hallett" logging boat - photographed for history - was retired in 1973. It was not until 1982 when the "Hallett" was resurrected and put on display as a monument in Pither`s Point Park.
The "Hallett" built in the 1940s measures 18.3 metres (60 ft.) long and weighs about 57 tons. During its life on the Rainy River the "Hallett" was the most powerful boat working the waterways until it was retired.
The "Hallett" logging boat`s primary function was to haul logs - up to 5000 cords of wood at a time - with each load measuring over 1 mile long.
