Iceberg Season has arrived in Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada
Iceberg season has arrived on the Avalon Peninsula and around Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. When I awoke this morning I looked out my windows and the bay was full of pack sea ice, growlers, bergy bits and many icebergs were visible in the distance. The majority of bergs arrive in Newfoundland from Greenland via "iceberg alley". In Addition, the remainder come from Canada's Arctic.
I got in my car and went on an adventure looking for icebergs along the coast. I found this iceberg with a cave hollowed out inside along the East Coast Trail near Torbay. The berg broke apart in rough sea shortly after. It is important to remember that icebergs are unpredictable and can break apart or roll at any time.
