Winter Hike to Fairy Creek Falls in Fernie British Columbia Canada
Fernie is a fabulous winter town in southeastern British Columbia Canada. Fairy Creek Falls is a year round easy to moderate hike, just under 5km in and back.
The falls were still flowing in early February, and the trail was very easy to follow with fantastic signs to point the way. There are many trails in the area to further your adventure if you'd like.
This is an avalanche area and it is wise to check the trail reports before heading out in the winter months, and stay aware of your surroundings. It is not recommended to venture right up to the base of the waterfall during winter. There are signs to help you know when to stop. You'll still be rewarded with fantastic views of this BC waterfall without getting too close.
Some icy areas, so microspikes or crampons are a great idea.
The trailhead is easy to find at the information centre with the huge wooden oil derrick

Kim Kenyon Thanks. There was a small fresh avalanche across the trail at one spot here. Definitely an avalanche area.
