Stavely, Alberta, Canada is located in the Willow Creek district and lies alongside the foothills of the Canadian Rocky Mountains. It is home to Canada's 1st indoor Rodeo which is still held annually. Stavely has a great historical museum, public library, 3 restaurants, a general store, full service RV campground, playgrounds, a golf course and is also conveniently located between multiple other campgrounds and lakes.
Some of the activities and adventures in the Stavely area include the Stavely Museum, golfing, sightseeing, birding, camping, fishing, hiking, back roading, 4x4 adventures, river floating, swimming, geocaching, biking and ice fishing.
Stavely is located very close to quite a few lakes within a 1 hour drive. Clear Lake -18km east. Pine Coulee Reservoir -14km west. Chain Lakes Reservoir -66km west and in the beautiful Rocky mountains, just a 40 minute drive. Keho Lake-located 63km south-east. McGregor Lake- located 90km to the North-east. Park Lake- located 56km south-east. Twin Valley Reservoir- located 37 km west. Little Bow- located 64km east.
Each of these areas has plenty to offer including campgrounds, fishing, swimming, water-sports, hiking, biking and sightseeing depending which way you want to go. Services are limited.
Stavely Museum. Carmangay is home to a historical archaeological teepee ring site 62 km west. Bar U Ranch is a National Historic Site located 74 km north-east. Bomber Command Museum of Canada is located just 25 km north in Nanton, Alberta. Many art and drama events take place in Stavely Alberta Canada throughout the year as well.
The town has a full service 15 site RV campground located easily from the highway, but tucked away nicely from any traffic. The campground is 1st come 1st serve and is $30/night. Weekly and monthly rates are available. The campground is located in Centennial Park which is a great place to have lunch using the picnic tables and a nice playground for the kids. The old Stavely Hotel is where you'll find some food, liquor and VLT's. Stavely Restaurant has dine-in, take out or delivery options available. And a new restaurant has popped up in the Stavely Arena! The General Store downtown has just about anything you might need while in town. Near by lakes mentioned above all have campground accommodations as well. Services are limited.
