Marsh Loop Trail

Marsh Loop Trail is a short recreation path located at the Cave and Basin National Historic Site which is southwest of the Village of Banff, Alberta, Canada. The Cave and Basin National Historic Site in Banff National Park  is the birthplace of Canadian Parks.

The 2.4 kilometre Marsh Loop Trail begins from the paved parking lot at the historic site or the trail can be accessed form the Cave and Basin Trail which leads to the Sundance Canyon Trail.

The Marsh Loop Trail in Banff National Park, Alberta, Canada explores a wetland region next to the Bow River named the Cave and Basin Marsh. The marsh is home to a various assortment of song birds, waterfowl and amphibians.

The Marsh Loop Trail is easy going, level and well maintained. The trail follows a wide gravel and dirt pathway with some boardwalk sections, a dyke to cross and some wooden foot bridges.

This Banff National Park trail is popular for hiking, birdwatching, biking and horseback riding.

There are horseback riding tours in Banff National Park which ride the trails. And, if your timing is right, you may meet a chuck wagon while exploring on the main trail which connects to the Marsh Loop Trail and the Sundance Canyon Trail.
