Whistler's Mountain Tramway

Whistler's Mountain is a sightseeing destination and a hiking trail located in the community of Jasper, Alberta, Canada in the Jasper National Park. The mountain is a popular destination for all ages and abilities providing wide ranging views of six mountain ranges, glacier fed alpine lakes and the town of Jasper, Alberta.

There are two ways to access the 2289 metre summit on Whistler's Mountain. One option is riding a gondola to the top and the other option is hiking to the top. One is very comfortable (tramway) and the other is very challenging (hiking trail).

Once at the summit there is a 1.5 kilometre walking path exploring the summit ridge leading to lookouts and viewpoints over looking the town of Jasper, Alberta, Canada and the Rocky Mountains. Along the summit pathway are some interpretive signs and information billboards describing the views, wildlife and history of the region.

Located at the base of Whistler's Mountain is a lower terminal and the tramway... nearby, is the trailhead entrance to the hiking trail. The tramway operates a shuttle service transporting people to the upper terminal located on the peak of the mountain. The tramway provides an easy going option for all ages and abilities to access the summit's services and pathway.

Located at the upper terminal is a restaurant, viewing decks, a gift shop and the summit trail. The gift shop and restaurant operate in the summer months only.

Another option for accessing the upper terminal is an 8 kilometre hiking trail which includes an elevation gain of over 1200 metres. The hiking route is considered a very challenging adventure and consists of many, many switchbacks.
