The Village of Cumberland is located on the east coast of Vancouver Island in the Comox Valley and is about 93 km northwest of Nanaimo. In the last decades of the 1800's it was a coal mining town, but today it is an artsy, world class outdoor recreation area lying in the shadow of the Comox Glacier. Mt. Washington ski resort is right next door and Cumberland is the gateway to Comox Lake. A friend and I stopped in downtown Cumberland for lunch deciding to try Biblio Taco, a Mexican restaurant.
When the former library of Cumberland, BC moved up Dunsmuir Street to its new location, this left a vacant space that was just perfect for a restaurant, a taco restaurant and what better way to honour the old library then to call it Biblio Taco!

All the food is made from scratch, and from local produce, meats and fish. Even the sauces are made in house!

A friend and I stopped for lunch to try Biblio Taco, a Mexican restaurant in Cumberland, BC. On the recommendation of my friend, we had enchilada's. My friend selected chicken and I tried the beef. We both had margarita's, my friend the passionfruit and I had the classic lime. All ingredients were fresh, homemade guacamole and delightful red pickled onions instead of salsa. Portions were huge and the enchilada was stuffed full of shredded meat. We asked for boxes to take the remainder home for a second meal. The restaurant was busy and is a popular choice for the adventuring crowd, whether back from a hike, the lake or the mountain bike trails, or just a stroll down Dunsmuir Street. My friend and I both recommend this restaurant 5 stars out of 5 for friendly and prompt service, cleanliness and vibe! The portions were generous and the ingredients fresh and delicious. It definitely hit the spot!
