6 Arm Purple Sea Star
It's not everyday that you get see a 6 arm Ochre Sea Star! Ochre Sea Stars or Purple Sea Stars are native to the West Coast and can be found hiding in rocks and crevices from California right up to Alaska. This one was found on our beach outside of our house during low tide the other day. Typically the Purple Sea Star has 5 arms but it can have 3 or 4 or as many as 7. Did you know with the exception of gulls and otters the Purple Sea Star has very few predators and can live up to 20 years!
