This touching Remembrance Day display is back along Memorial Drive in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The Field of Crosses can be seen each year as we approach November 11.
The beginning of November marks the 11 days of remembrance. From November 1 to November 11, the public is welcome to explore the crosses for free 24/7. Furthermore, you can attend ceremonies, put on twice a day, at sunrise and sunset. They ask you to arrive 15 before the ceremony is to start.
November 10 is the night of lights, and each cross will have a candle lit in front, making for a very beautiful and moving memorial. The area is closed to the public from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on November 10 as volunteers light the candles.
November 11 you will find a large televised Remembrance Day Ceremony starting at 10:10 a.m. Open to the public but with parking restrictions.
Memorial Drive will be shut down in the area directly in front of the Field of Crosses from 9 a.m. November 11 until after the ceremony is complete.
You can park at Eau Claire and walk across the bridge for easy access on this day.
