The Eagle statue, created by Manitoba artist Jake Goertzen, was erected as a tribute to the survivors of the residential school system on the Long Plain First Nation's Keeshkeemaquah Reserve. The 12 foot tall eagle sits atop an 85 foot replica tree along the Yellowquill Trail. The eagle signifies, "the beginning of new days as the sun rises on today's fresh start."
