    • I wouldn't necessarily think of taking a road trip in winter, but these stunning photos show it is defintely worth it. Thanks or the inspiration!

This is a road trip for all seasons, each being different. The snow in Winter makes for a stunning winter wonderland. Spring and summer provide opportunities to see many Grizzly Bears, who often cause traffic, and Bear Jams as they feast on roadside dandelions. The Fall brings bright yellow Larch trees, popular with tourists for incredible Fall photos.
Lots to see and do along Highway 93 where you can stop at Marble Canyon, Numa Falls, the Paint Pots, and the Kootenay Red Chairs.
Being you can do this road trip in one day from Calgary, it is one of my all-time favorite road trips.

    Dorset Scenic Lookout Tower

Township of Algonquin Highlands, the Dorset Scenic Lookout Tower

The initial tower, constructed in 1922, stood at a height of 25 meters (82 feet) and served as a fire lookout until 1961. The present tower was completed in 1967 and reaches a height of 30 meters (100 feet), built so that visitors could appreciate the scenery.

Visitors are welcome to climb to the observation deck, which is 142 metres (465 feet) above Lake of Bays, and enjoy the view from the tree-top lookout as well as ground level lookouts

Facilities include picnic sites, restrooms, a tourist information kiosk, a gift shop and a hiking trail.

    Ontario Autumn Colors

Every year, over 10,000 vehicles (60,000 visitors) enter through the gates. During the busy autumn season, it is common for more than 600 vehicles to visit the tower in one day.
