The Cabot Trail, on Nova Scotia's Cape Breton Island is considered one of the world's best road trips and best scenic destinations and l couldn't agree more. Cape Breton and The Cabot Trail definitely rank as one of my favorite Canadian Road Trips...A bucket list must!! You can drive the Cabot Trail and most of the island in a day but do plan for a longer stay so you can enjoy the endless coastal outlook points, waterfalls, camping spots and hiking trails inside Cape Breton Highlands National Park.
Cape Breton island has stunning ocean vistas, old-growth forests, rock scarred by glaciers, the mysterious highlands and coastal winding roads with spectacular views.
I started my Cabot Trail Road Trip from the small town of Cheticamp as soon as the sun came up at 5am. First in line when Tim Hortons opened to grab my coffee, this early start to my road trip allowed me to see the early morning wildlife with no other vehicle traffic on the park roads.
While the rest of the island slept in, I basically had the Cabot Trail to myself !!
I saw the sun rise in Cheticamp on one side of the island and finished my day after driving the Cabot Trail by watching the sunset in Baddeck. It was an amazing day l will never forget!
