Little Cup of Sea Beach Hut Rental in Colliers Newfoundland and Labrador Canada

By Cora Lee Rennie in Newfoundland 1479 views 10th Apr, 2023 Video Duration: N/A   Colliers, NL A0A, Canada

Celebrating Easter at A Little Cup of Sea beach hut rental in Colliers Newfoundland Canada was magical! As I walked up the bridge to the shed a huge growler was right next to the dock. Iceberg season has arrived on the island and bergy bits scattered the shores. The beach hut is stylishly decorated with many unique pieces of art throughout.  Furthermore, there is a toilet and a wood burning stove for maximum coziness while berg watching.

The vacation rental can be booked in 4 hour time slots and there is an option to order "waffletons" and local tea for a fee. "Waffletons" are served warm with a jam filling and remind me of fluffy mini waffles. The snacks are served with locally sourced wild island tea. The sea hut is the perfect place to gather with friends or simply enjoy some alone time to read books or write.

In the warmer months there are kayak and paddle board rentals offered. If being on the water is not your thing there is always beach combing where you can explore the shores for seashells, sea glass and driftwood. However, NO experience is going to top sitting up by the fireplace on Good Friday and eating Cadbury mini eggs while watching an iceberg break apart before your eyes. EPIC!

MyAdditionally, I also launched my Legacy Project which I’ve named “Stories by the Sea” where I will carrying on my family legacy of storytelling. My great uncle, Jerome Walsh, of Little Bay, Newfoundland, Canada, was known around the world as a fisherman, museum owner and storyteller.

I grew up on the wharf with him watching him fish, helping him unload his cod from the boat with a pitch fork each morning, filet and cure the fish with salt where it was spread to dry it on traditional flakes. I also worked in his self made museum and was gifted with the unique experience of meeting, connecting with, and telling fishing tales of the sea to tourists from around the world. I went on to become a curator and storyteller at the Little Bay Heritage Centre, which is a historic church that was floated from abandoned community Oderin during resettlement. Furthermore, I also was a curator and storyteller at the Marystown Memorial Museum where the famous photo with my uncles record breaking cod fish is on display.

In honour of my family and ancestors I was very proud to launch and film the first episode of my new series “Stories by the Sea” at “A Little Cup of Sea” this Easter weekend. Easter is a time of transformation and new beginnings - it’s time for me to fly! As thousands of viewers from around Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada and across the world watched on my LIVE NL Coastal Adventures feed to tell my uncles story - I could feel his presence with me. The positive feedback and engagement from my audience was heartwarming. It was a very special trip to “A Little Cup of Sea” for me and I would like to thank Lacey at the beach hut for her help and kindness!
