Ione Falls is conveniently only steps away from the parking lot. A waterfall for everyone to enjoy. Even though it's right along highway BC-23, opposite side from the lake, it's quite easy to drive past because it's on a slight angle. It's huge, and once you know it's there, you cannot miss it. There is a fair sized parking lot, as it can be busy in the summer. But winter, we had it all to ourselves. It was quite fun to play around this waterfall during January to see the icicles and winter flow rate. Which was still quite good.
Luckily, there are even a few picnic tables in front of the falls if you're looking for a scenic lunch rest stop. On one side you'll have the large beautiful moss covered Ione Falls, and then just across the road is the gigantic sprawling Arrow Lake. Fantastic road side stop with a waterfall just north of Nakusp in British Columbia Canada.
