The Plains of Abraham are approximately 2.4 kilometers in length which I walked one morning while recreating in my mind the battle of September 13, 1759. In 1759 the fate of New France hung in the balance as French and British troops (the generals Malcolm and Wolfe) clashed on the Plains of Abraham. The French defeat would long remain a painful memory, and both generals succumbed from battle injuries along with many others. Today, history is kept alive through monuments, statues, museums and information boards. The Plains of Abraham while a key tourist destination is also heavily used by locals and tourists alike for jogging and running, ball games, socializing and walking and admiring the views of the St. Lawrence River below.
