Campbell River at Discovery Pier on Vancouver Island British Columbia

On a recent road trip to Vancouver Island, I visited Campbell River and explored Discovery Pier. It was a beautiful day with many things to do at this location. Walking paths can take you in a large loop around part of the town. There are boats in the harbour. I passed the aquarium beside the Pier. A number of people were fishing off the pier and many others were strolling around enjoying the sunshine.

When we arrived, there was a fiddler playing some tunes I recognized from growing up in Nova Scotia. It lent a festive air to our visit. We discovered a place to buy ice cream on the pier. My child-sized cone was huge and the best ice cream I've had in some time.

I wish we had time to visit the Maritime Heritage Centre and the aquarium. Next time I'll allow for a longer visit. I thought it was a special place.
