While driving around trying to find where the Oldman River meets the Crowsnest River, I found this nice little Alberta Parks FCFS campground tucked down in a valley right at the fork! Located off of Hwy 510. Anytime you have 2 rivers connecting, in my experience, should mean some pretty great fishing opportunities. This campground is a dream for anyone wanting to set out on the Oldman River in southern Alberta when water levels permit. There is a very easy access boat launch with plenty of parking available. This campground is a first come first serve site, no firewood available to be purchased here. Located just north of the town of Pincher Creek Alberta Canada.
*This area is prone to extreme water fluctuations and can become almost completely drained of water. Check water levels before arrival.
Summer 2023 has been a bit hard on southern Alberta. As seen by the lack of water at the North Fork Campground area of Pincher Creek on the Oldman River
Summer drought in southern Alberta means no more water at the North Fork Campground on the Oldman River, rendering the boat launch here useless for now in August 2023
Don't be surprised if you pull up to this little campground and you have it all to yourself. Tucked nicely off the main hwy, no one will even know you're there.
There are no trees in this campground, you'll be exposed to the elements here. But it is low and tucked in nicely that the wind shouldn't get to you too bad.
At the North Fork Campground, you sinply register yourself after picking a spot. Simple and easy, no need to plan ahead to stay here. It can be a last minute decision!
Not only is this a nice little campground, but the parking area is great for day use fishing. Launch your boat right here and park your truck and trailer for the day without worry of being in the way.
The scenery here is fantastic. You're in a place that the mountains are just starting in the distance. So you're set upon rolling hills as the prairies become the foothills in Pincher Creek area.
Located near Pincher Creek, you have many options for launching your boat on the river. Including North Forks Campground with it's easy to use boat launch area.
Know the rules, regulations, and weather as you head out fishing anywhere in Alberta. Plenty of signs around to remind you how to be a responsible fisherman
Here is a shot as you descend down the hill to the North Fork Campground. You'll see it is just a small little campground, but the location is phenomenal where the rivers meet.
Oh Alberta, it never ceases to amaze me how beautiful it is here, everywhere! I don't often hear people talk about the Pincher Creek area as beautiful...but clearly it is.
