By early November when I visited Inuvik, sunset is at 3:30pm. IN only a few more weeks, Inuvik will experience 30 days without the sun breaking the horizon. There will still be about 4-5 hours light. However, after 30 days of this, the Town of Inuvik holds a big festival for the Sunrise party. This festival is celebrated on the first day that the sun peaks over the horizon in early January. The sun will rise mid-afternoon and will only break the horizon less than 30 minutes before it sets again.
