Helmcken Falls in Wells Gray Provincial Park British Columbia

Helmcken Falls is the 4th highest waterfall in Canada. The water plunges 463 feet on the Murtle River. The cliffs in this canyon seem immense. I'm not overly fond of heights so I had to keep reminding myself that I was safely behind a fence.

Just how much of a drop is 463 feet? When I searched online, I found that a 30 story building is commonly between 300 to 450 ft., depending on how high the floors are. Considering that the water has worn a path into the rock so starts part way down the cliff front, and that the observation platform is higher still, this was like standing on the top of a 30 + story building trying to look over the edge and see the street below. Yes, that's how it felt! But I'm very glad I saw it. Quite amazing.
