Telford Lake in Leduc Alberta Canada is a hidden gem in the Edmonton region. Ideal for paddling, Telford Lake is long (3km) and narrow making and typically sheltered from the winds. The Leduc Boat Club which runs the Telford Lake Alberta Training Centre is based here. They are one of the only clubs in the country to offer canoeing, dragon boat, kayaking, outriggers, rowing, and stand-up paddle boarding. They also have indoor tanks for year-round training. The Club offers rentals, camps, lessons, and hosts competitions. In fact, Telford Lake is one of the only 8 lanes, 2,000m paddling racecourses in the prairies. This is a paddling only lake. Additionally, there is a paved 8km walking and biking trail around the lake which is one of the most loved multi-use trails in the city. Located in the heart of the City of Leduc Alberta Canada, Telford Lake is near attractions such as the Stone Barn Garden, William F. Lede Park, the Leduc Recreation Centre, and Leduc's Mainstreet.

The day started our cool and frosty. However, by the time we made it to the lake we were lucky enough to have a beautiful fall day. Since we were warm, we were able to enjoy the fall colours and to relax and watch the birds. Other that two kayakers we had the lake to ourselves. This photo is from the far end of the lake looking back towards downtown Leduc in the distance.

Back on the city side of the lake, houses line a portion of the lakes north shore. It's fun to imagine owing one of these houses and having the Telford Lake and the Telford Lake Trail right outside your door. You can have an adventure every day.

We really enjoyed canoeing on Telford Lake. It was such a beautiful day and such a peaceful place to paddle. Altogether we paddled about 6km and spent about an hour and a half canoeing.
