The North York Creek Plane Crash trail is a difficult 20km loop in the Crowsnest Pass that you can either hike, bike, quad or take a horse. There are some very steep sections and the weather can turn quickly so be prepared. The top of the trail is the memorial site for DC-3 where you can still find the wreckage from January 19 1946 when 7 soldiers crashed into Mount Ptolemy.
Starting point is the York Creek staging area in Frank, Alberta Canada
There is something quite creepy about walking around the site of a plane crash, but also very interesting and a great way to remember those who perished that night.
It's easy to see how clear the day was, and now you cannot see the mountain I am literally standing on as the snow rolls into. Easy to imagine how quickly their flight turned for the worst
